Eisteddfod Groups news: 2016 VLDA GROUPS ONLY

GROUP & SOLO EISTEDDFODS GENERAL INFORMATION

Eisteddfods are dance competitions in which our students compete with other dance schools for coveted places and
trophies. There are many Eisteddfods across Sydney each year and VLDA enters dance groups in various age categories to
represent our school. Soloists are also selected to represent our school in all dance styles.

Eisteddfods are a wonderful opportunity for students to gain extra performing experience and bring their dancing to a new
level. Talented Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Hip Hop students may be invited by VLDA to join an Eisteddfod group, be an
Eisteddfod soloist or part of a duo or trio. VLDA enters groups into the Eisteddfods but relies on parents of soloists to enter
their own children into the Eisteddfods of their choice.

Eisteddfod students are selected based on talent and must demonstrate commitment. They must be prepared to commit
100% to one extra class per week for their group or solo/duo/trio rehearsal before and throughout the eisteddfod season
(this includes some rehearsals in the April school holidays). Commitment to performance dates is essential for selected
Eisteddfod group dancers. Group performances are dates usually on weekends.

Eisteddfod dates and details are published on individual Eisteddfod websites.
